Forró is about connection, self-expression, and enjoying the music. We believe the true joy of dance lies in shared connection and comfort, not in how many complex steps you know. Learning new moves is a consequence of working on fundamental skills. Our classes balance physical skills with a social, supportive mindset:

  • The Physical: We focus on core mechanics such as body awareness, alignment, weight transfer, rhythm, and clear lead-and-follow communication. These build the balance and coordination you need to feel comfortable, relaxed, and creative.
  • The Mindset: Dance is a social space built on trust. We emphasize building confidence, setting and respecting personal boundaries, staying curious, and being patient with yourself and others.

Our level divisions simply guide your path and focus on the right concepts at the right time. Being a great dancer involves technique, musicality, movement range, and cultural understanding. And everyone grows at their own pace. We don't teach you to collect steps; we help you become a thoughtful and welcoming partner that people love dancing with.

Your Forró Learning Journey

Our levels are designed to support your learning, not rank your talent. Being a good dancer requires technique, musicality, connection, movement range, and cultural understanding.

And we all have different strengths and areas of improvement.

Unsure of your level? Contact us at contact@forrodenhaag.nl for personalized advice on where to start!

Trimester Based Courses

Our courses are structured by trimesters (approx. 3 months) to ensure a consistent learning pace.

  • Beginners 1: This is your introductory course and lasts for one trimester.
  • Beginners 2, Intermediate 1, and Intermediate 2: Each have a minimum duration of two trimesters. Different content is covered across the two trimesters in each of these levels, allowing for deeper skill development.

Progressing at Your Own Pace

  • Your Level Doesn't Define You: Your level simply reflects where you are on your journey right now, it never defines your value or talent as a dancer.
  • Fresh Material Every Trimester: You won't just repeat the same class. Every trimester balances new content with essential technique, keeping you challenged without feeling overwhelmed.
  • Teacher Check-In: Everyone grows at their own pace. Please speak with your teacher before signing up for a higher level to ensure it’s the best step for your progress.

Learning on the Dance Floor vs. In Classes

Practice at Forro Event

In Brazil, forró is a living culture that people often pick up naturally right at parties. You can definitely learn that way here in The Hague, too! There are plenty of local opportunities (including free socials) to get out there and dance!

Why take classes then?
In class, we break down the technique, body awareness, and comfortable connection that make dancing feel smooth, safe, and effortless.

Why parties are essential:
Classes teach you the language, but parties are where you actually speak it! Stepping onto the social dance floor is where you learn to adapt to different partners, feel the room's energy, and truly make the dance your own.

Private Classes

Our teacher, Bruna Azevedo, offers private lessons for sutdents who want to deepen their knowledge, target a specific skill, or receive one-on-one attention on their dance journey.

In addition to teaching regular courses in The Hague (since 2021) and Utrecht (since 2022), Bruna has been invited to teach workshops across the Netherlands and at international festivals in Belgium, Germany, Spain, France, Greece and Turkey.
